John wins Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack!

An aspiring Scottish politician has won the latest version of the Big Brother reality TV show, earning himself a £55,000 prize.

John Loughton, 20, from Edinburgh was declared the winner of Channel 4's Big Brother Celebrity Hijack last night, narrowly pipping Emilia Arata, from Birmingham to second place.

The show had been forced to drastically change its format after last year's controversy whereby contestant Jade Goody was accused of racially bullying Shilpa Shetty.

Unlike previous years, the housemates were not comprised of celebrities but instead made up of young people aged 18-21 who all had a distinct talent that they were hoping to pursue as a career.

Various well-known TV presenters, actors and comedians took it in turns to be the voice of Big Brother telling the housemates to carry out set tasks.

This year's show has not pulled in the usually high ratings. When the first episode aired earlier this month, 3.4 million viewers tuned in - compared to the 7.1 million of last year's Celebrity Big Brother.

The series was mainly screened on the digital channel E4 whereas in previous years Big Brother has usually had a prime-time Channel 4 slot.

Loughton, chairman of the Scottish Youth Parliament, became the early favourite to win after passing a secret task set by comedian Matt Lucas in the first week.

He was directed through a hidden earpiece to do whatever Lucas ordered including claiming he was a psychic, a boxer, a musician and the author of The Sound Of Music score. He passed the task and as a result guaranteed himself a place in the final.

Second placed Emilia Arata is a circus performer and roller skating contortionist who carries out a double act with her brother Victor, who was also on the show.

Amy Jackson, 21, from Leeds, a conceptual artist, came third with 21.9 per cent of the vote and Anthony Ogogo, 19, a boxer, from Lowestoft, was fourth with 21.6 per cent.

Brian Sewell slams IQ levels

Posh art critic Brian Sewell has slammed the level of intelligence displayed by the so-called prodigies in the Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack house.

Sewell said the programme was sold to him as housing the 12 brightest and best young Britons in their fields. Having watched the first show, however, he was very disappointed with the general intellectual level.

"As the programme wore on I began to dislike you more and more," he said.

But then the latest celebrity hijacker gave them an opportunity to redeem themselves - setting them the task of creating a four-course dinner.

Brian Sewell makes the male housemates cross-dress

The latest Celebrity Hijacker, art critic Brian Sewell, made the housemates cross-dress in his Big Brother task. He divided the housemates into pairs and then made them swap clothes.

The pairs were Liam and Calista, Nathan and Latoya, Victor and Emilia, Jeremony and Anthony shared Amy's clothes.

Boxer Anthony wore Amy's blue dress, gold jewellery, a black wig and sunglasses.

Entrepreneur Liam wore Calista's purple and silver dress. He then impersonated Calista by putting on a girly voice and saying "Hi, I'm Calista."

Liam also revealed he wasn't wearing any underwear which freaked Calista out.

Jeremy joined in the fun saying, "Does my bum look big in this?"

Amy speaks about her SAS interrogation

Conceptual artist Amy tells the housemates what really happened in the SAS task.

Big Brother Celebrity Hijack contestant Amy Jackson has told her fellow housemates what McNab and his team did to try and get her to talk.

Amy revealed that McNab kept "asking me why I wouldn't tell him the code and that I had to give him reasons."
"I told him that I didn't know who he was and I couldn't trust him."
He replied, "In that case you can take your goggles off and look at me'. He had really blue eyes that were just staring me out."

Amy told her housemates she was interrogated by three men as well as McNab. One of the men burst in and shouted
"You're just jumped-up, arrogant, egotistical, upper-class, evil and so on."

Brave Amy stayed strong and didn't reveal the secret code.

BB8's Brian makes surprise appearance

The housemates were left reeling after Big Brother 8's winner Brian Belo made a surprise appearance today, dressed only in a towel.

To the group's confusion, Chris Moyles boomed: "This is Bigger Brother, will Brian come to the Diary Room."

Moyles had struggled all day to get many of the housemates names correct, having mistakenly referred to Liam as Leon and Amy as Annie, and so the group assumed that he had made another blunder.

Their confusion soon turned to shock when Brian Belo, winner of last year's Big Brother, emerged from the bathroom dressed in only a towel.

"Big Brother always calls me to the Diary Room when I'm in the shower," raged the reality star as he stomped to the Diary Room.

"Who was that?" asked Amy, as Anthony informed her of the identity of their intruder.

"These things shock me so much," admitted Liam as Emilia called: "Bring him back."

Jeremy rushes to "fat" Emilia's defence

Jay claimed that Emilia would be deemed "fat" by the American fashion industry, much to the horror of his fellow housemates.

"Emilia would be classed as fat in America," said the fashion designer, before adding: "She's not fat though."

Jeremy rushed to the defence of the circus performer, telling her: "You look absolutely fine the way you are. I can't believe someone like Emilia would be called fat. It's ridiculous."

"I think it's unhealthy and barbaric," chipped in Nathan.

"Your body is incredible," added Calista.

Emilia's brother Victor then delivered his opinion, drawing parallels with the circus world: "The fashion industry is very vicious when you're out of shape - same in our industry. I've seen women in my business take up smoking just to lose weight. It's so very hard to change anything because it's a competitive world."

"They're being paid to throw their health away," he concluded.

Big Brother Celebrity Hijack - The axe is looming

The future of celebrity versions of Big Brother is looking bleak, a newspaper has said.

According to the Daily Star, Channel 4 (C4) chiefs have decided to scrap Celebrity Big Brother following last year's Jade and Shilpa debacle, and this year's reduced viewing figures.

Instead, bosses plan to put all their energy into reviving the traditional format, which has previously aired in summer and made stars out of unknown wannabes.

The newspaper quoted a "senior C4 source" who said the flagship Big Brother had been forgotten about and was due some attention.

"Now is the time to hatch a plan which will turn it back into the exciting, vibrant show it once was," the insider explained.

"Celebrity Hijack has done well for us on E4 … what it has done is give us time to regroup and come up with a serious battle plan about how to make BB9 the best yet."

Previous celebrities who have lived inside the Big Brother house include John McCririck, Caprice, Maggot from Goldie Lookin' Chain and, of course, Jade Goody.

She also brought her mum and boyfriend onto the show last year, prior to being accused of bullying Shilpa Shetty.

Big Brother Celebrity Hijack - Anthony sets pulses racing

Pictures of Anthony Ogogo during a modelling assignment have been revealed on Heat magazine's blog.

The boxer, who has set many ladies' heart aflutter in the house so far, posed for a downloadable calendar as part of the promotional campaign for a hair care range.

His chiselled jaw and athletic body are on show in the snaps, which Heat published on its website.

According to the article, 19-year-old Anthony is the official face of the products and the photographs are sure to be eye candy for his fans.

"We knew Big Brother Celebrity Hijack boxer Anthony was hot," it said. "But we didn't know he was this hot."

Some of the snaps involve the housemate demonstrating his boxing skills, while others are classic poses such as tying his shoelaces and socialising in the changing rooms.

Anthony is originally from Suffolk and escaped nomination this week, leaving that task to Victor, Jeremy and Jade.

The public are set to decide who gets the boot on Friday, when presenter Dermot O'Leary will announce to the house who is for the chop.

Nathan and Latoya in wet t-shirt contest

Nathan and Latoya in water and ice battle

Nathan and Latoya are rumoured to be the next Big Brother couple after having a playful water fight last night.

Dancer Latoya and singer Nathan threw water and ice at each other in their battle. Nathan ended the water fight after pouring a saucepan full of melting ice on Latoya.

Playful Nathan shouted in victory, "I got you now! I win! Give me a hug!" Latoya was less than impressed, responding "No, I don't want to hug... I know who my friends are now."

After their battle ended the pair started tidying up the ice and water. Latoya wan't happy with the fact that Nathan had ended the battle and drew a line under it. She discussed it with Nathan but all he said was "You started, so I will finish." Scottish John jumped in to calm things down and tried to get a truce. Nathan made a suggestion, "I'm willing to give you an offer... get some ice and I'll let you get me."

Latoya rejected his offer and chose to visit the Diary Room instead.

Big Brother Celebrity Hijack bans sexy tasks

Celebrity Hijackers have been banned from giving housemates sexy tasks when they take over.

The ban follows a request from a male celebrity to make two of the female contestants kiss each other.

'Celebrities can't give out any sex-related tasks,' a show insider says. 'The housemates can't be asked to do anything that they might be uncomfortable with.'

Bosses are particularly worried about lothario Russell Brand taking over as Big Brother tomorrow.

'Russell is extremely cheeky so we're prepared for some near-the-knuckle tasks,' a source tells the Daily Star. 'But If the girls get tipsy and want to experiment, there isn't a lot we can do about it.'

Meanwhile, couples are beginning to emerge in the Big Brother house after 5 days of being cooped up together.

Victor Arata and Latoya Satrine shared a bed on the second day, and Amy Jackson grilled Jeremy Metcalfe on his feelings for circus performer contestant Emilia Arata.

Lesbian love on the horizon?

Will the Big Brother girls kiss to impress?

Now magazine has reported that a male celebrity has requested that two of the Big Brother girls kiss. All Celebrity Hijackers have now been banned from setting sexy tasks.

A show insider told Now magazine "Celebrities can't give out any sex-related tasks...The housemates can't be asked to do anything that they might be uncomfortable with."
The house is filled with talented young people who want to make it big for their talents rather than scandal this time around.

A Big Brother insider told the Daily Star that the show bosses are worried about Russell Brand's stint as the Celebrity Hijacker:
"Russell is extremely cheeky so we're prepared for some near-the-knuckle tasks...but if the girls get tipsy and want to experiment, there isn't a lot we can do about it."

Jay admits he would rather be straight

Fashion designer housemate Jay has revealed to his fellow housemates that he would choose to be straight if he had the choice.

Jay said "If I could be straight now then I would, because it would make my life a whole lot easier." He also admitted that he is "attracted to both sexes." He said he'd date the beautiful Jade.

Jay added "I look at people as people...I don't really see gender. I know that sounds crazy."

Sexuality seems to be a big subject of discussion in the house. Later, in a conversation with Anthony, the two housemates clashed when Anthony suggested that nurture not nature determined someones sexuality. Jay disagreed saying "How can you be brought up gay? How can you be influenced to be gay?"

Jay also revealed that he'd been told Nathan was gay before entering the house and that it took one second of meeting him to realise it was a big lie.

Big Brother Celebrity Hijack - Jade's family scared of bullying

Jade Eden's family is afraid she may become a victim of bullying in the current series of Big Brother, it has been claimed.

Speaking to the Daily Star Sunday, a friend expressed fears that Jade could be picked on by other members of the house as a result of her beauty, intelligence and charm.

"The fact that she is very near perfection means that sometimes people take against her quite easily," the unnamed source told the paper.

"Her friends and family are worried about her going in, especially in light of some of the rows in that house in the past."

The friend added that jealousy of Jade has often caused her trouble in the past.

Jade Eden has been joined by 12 other talented young people on the show, who will be set tasks by a number of celebrities taking on the mantel of Big Brother for the contest.

Celebrities reportedly due to take part in the series include comedienne Joan Rivers, former Arsenal legend Ian Wright, pop svengali and former manager of the New York Dolls, Sex Pistols and Bow Wow Wow Malcolm McClaren, arts critic Brian Sewell and comedian Matt Lucas, among others.

Housemates given a new acting task

The Big Brother housemates had to act for their supper after actor Alan Cumming took over the proceedings.

The star of stage and screen - he has appeared in films such as GoldenEye and X2 - gave the 12 each a character and a costume and urged them all to get into their role, in true Hollywood style.
He then asked them to put on an amateur dramatics type play, which would test their improvisational skills.

If they perform their roles throughout the day, and successfully put on the play to Cumming's specification, they will secure a luxury menu.

They were given 45 minutes to come up with a 15-minute improvised play.

The star of Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack told them: "It must have a clear narrative and incorporate the following classic movie themes - a chase, a love affair, a secret exposed, an argument, a murder and a mistaken identity. Add anything else you fancy. The performance needs a name and every character must speak or grunt. And it's gotta be good."

Characters included Anthony as Blanche, a wealthy, flirtatious southern belle from Kentucky, and Calista as Professor Olga Verhollenbosch, an unorthodox scientist from Stuttgart.

Meanwhile former footballer Ian Wright, who was the celebrity hijacker on Saturday, said of his time in charge of the house: "I had a brilliant time. To be in there with people that have really got the drive and passion about what they're doing and at that age is really quite inspiring for me. I loved it, absolutely loved it!

"Being Big Brother has given me faith in that generation again because you get a lot of bad publicity about that age group not doing anything, just using drugs, guns and taking from the state.

"What I've taken away from it is there is hope for people because there is a generation of 19 to 21 year olds who have got ambition and drive, and they are out there. It was really good to be out there amongst them and it is why I said I want to do it. They gave me a buzz!"

Cummings becomes Big Brother

X-men actor Alan Cummings has become the third star to take over the house on Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack.

The New York-based 42-year-old follows comedian Matt Lucas and former Arsenal and England footballer Ian Wright into the Big Brother hot seat.

And he wasted little time in making himself at home, getting the housemates to perform a task where they all had to take on character roles for the day.

The star of Eyes Wide Shut and Spiceworld told Jade, Jay et al to pick a stereotypical character and become them.

Complete with costume and personal training from Cummings himself, the contestants need to convince the man in charge that they have got what it takes to be stars.

In order to claim the luxury menu prize at the end of the task they were told they had to put on a performance and impress their audience of one sufficiently with their acting talent.

Boxer Anthony was transformed into a southern belle, Victor put on a velvet suit to become Dr Loon and Calista became a German boffin called Professor Olga.

Cummings himself claims to be a Big Brother obsessive, but has confessed to a dislike of rude people who are offensive to get attention, which may be a problem as a celebrity hijacker.

On his online blog on the Big Brother website the actor said he was enjoying his role so far and being "kind but firm"

"I'm really loving the way they’re all exploring things about themselves, which are coming through the characters that I’m giving them," he wrote.

"I think I’m being friendly and letting them explore things that they maybe didn’t realise they had to explore."

Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack is being broadcast in place of the usual Celebrity Big Brother after last year's race row involving Jade Goody and Shilpa Shetty attracted headlines for the wrong reasons.

Lucas causes havoc on Celebrity Hijack

'Little Britain' star Matt Lucas has already made his mark as the first personality to act as Big Brother on the new series 'Celebrity Hijack'.

Before the contestants entered the house Lucas chose 20-year-old politician John Loughton as his guinea pig to complete a secret task.

Big Brother gave John a tiny earpiece and instructed him to say only whatever he heard through this earpiece, word for word.

He was told that completing the task successfully would earn him immunity from all evictions but failing would mean that he would be up for every single eviction.

As the other housemates entered the 'Celebrity Hijack' house, Lucas directed John to greet them, make unusual comments to them and behave oddly around them.

As part of his task he was asked to massage other people's shoulders, hug other housemates for too long, ask someone to rub his cramping leg, talk about cake a lot and dance frantically while singing to himself.

After successfully completing the task, Lucas later informed John that he had won a place in the final.

The other housemates were also told about John's task and his immunity from the public vote.

Celebrity Hijack: Wright takes over

Former footballer Ian Wright will be the latest star to take over the Celebrity Hijack chair - and assume command of the housemates - on Saturday.

Wright will be the second celebrity to take control of Big Brother, following Matt Lucas, who kicked off proceedings on Thursday night.

Matt departed after naming songwriter Calista the most talented and politician John the least talented - and setting Jeremy, Nathan and Anthony a cake-baking challenge which they passed with flying colours.

"I will miss the good, the bad, the highs, the lows, the cherries and the nuts," he told the housemates.

During his time in charge, Matt also set John the task of saying and doing everything he said while the other housemates were arriving - leading to some embarrassing moments for the young politician.

Actor Alan Cumming will also be 'hijacking' the house over the weekend, while Kelly Osbourne will preside over the first set of nominations, due on Monday.

Other celebrities due to hijack Big Brother include comedian Jimmy Carr, OAP comic Joan Rivers and American Idol judge Paula Abdul.

Big Brother Hijack Begins

Matt Lucas has an alter ego...

He also goes by the name of Big Brother.

He took the reins as BB as 12 gifted newbies entered the House.

Celebrity hijacker Matt was at the helm of the good ship Bro for the first hours of the Celebrity Big Brother replacement.

So what did the wee scamp do with his power?

He chose to become the puppet master of Scottish Youth Parliament chairman John Loughton.

Matt told him how to greet the other entrants, using an earpiece.

Following Matt's directions, John got his fellow Housemates all confused by claiming to be a racing driver, a musician, a psychic and a boxer.

When introducing himself to Calista Robertson, he told the singer and song-writer that he was personally responsible for writing the score to the 1960s film The Sound of Music.

But John managed to pull off his randomness...

And Matt decided John had passed the challenge, guaranteeing him a place in the final of the show and promising the group a Chinese-style buffet to help them settle in.

Big Brother Hijack Better Then Big Brother?

Which is better Big Brother Hijack or Big Brother I must say that I am liking the Hijack version more.

Last night when john entered that house he was called to the diary room by Matt Lucas who gave John a task in which he had to say whatever Matt told him to say to the housemates.

When beauty queen Jade arrived in the House, Hijack Master Matt attempted one final instruction with John. “I want you to gather everyone in a circle and say ‘This is really important to me.’ Ask for complete silence.” But it just didn’t work - nobody was listening to a word John said.

John then entered the diary room and then Matt spoke to the House. “This is Big Brother. All housemates to gather on the sofas.” “This is Big Brother,” he continued, “aka Matt Lucas! This evening I am hijacking the Big Brother House.” The gasps were audible as Matt then spoke to John in the Diary Room as the housemates watched on the screen in the Lounge and all was reviled that basically John was not a mad man and it was a task.

This was so funny to watch and you have got to give it to John he played the game well.

Kelly Osbourne may join show

Kelly Osbourne is reported to be joining the celebrities hijacking Big Brother this series.

The singer and television presenter originally shot to fame in reality show The Osbournes but now fronts Project Catwalk.

According to the Sun, she will be one of the famous faces responsible for bossing the housemates about alongside other celebs such as Jimmy Carr and Matt Lucas, who viewers saw start the series on Thursday.

It could be likely that Kelly, 23, will not give the contestants an easy ride, given the straight-talking and potty mouth of her rocker dad and music mogul mum.

Kelly recently slammed the producers of Project Catwalk as they would not let her swear on the programme, even though designer Julian MacDonald was allowed to.

World Entertainment News Network quoted her as saying: "I had a strop with the producers because they would not let me swear. It was so unfair."

In addition to her on-camera duties she also co-hosts a BBC Radio 1 show called The Surgery in which listeners can phone in and talk about their problems.

Big Brother Celebrity Hijack - Jade Goody´s Big Brother comeback

'Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack' viewers are begging Channel 4 to put Jade Goody into the house to spice up the programme.

After host Dermot O'Leary blasted 'Celebrity Big Brother' bosses for changing the format of the reality show following a race row between Jade Goody and Shilpa Shetty last year, viewers begged for disgraced Jade to be put back into the house.

Dermot said last night (03.01.08): "I thought changing the format was definitely a mistake. The bosses have gone out of their way to cast people who probably wouldn't normally apply to be on it.

"I still think it's a good show and I don't think anyone should apologise for what happened last year. It conjured up debate and asked some serious questions."

One viewer wrote on an official forum: "Dermot's dead right. Bring back Jade Goody! This new-style show will never match up."

Meanwhile, 'Little Britain' star Matt Lucas became the first celebrity 'Big Brother', and caused chaos and embarrassment in the house when he controlled contestant John Loughton through a concealed earpiece.

Matt instructed the 20-year-old politician to make outrageous comments including 'You're not a natural blonde, are you?', blurt out random words like 'Cake', stroke his fellow contestants and crawl to the Diary Room.

After successfully completing the secret mission, John won a Chinese buffet for the entire house, and became the first housemate to be guaranteed a place in the final.
